back to 4? No 6!

June 24 is Dawson's birthday. I jokingly tried to convince him we could go backwards this year and he could be 4 again! Dawson was having NO part of that! "Mom, I've got to turn 6" he said.Note his 6 fingers!
For some reason it seems like I've reached a different stage with me growing sons. I guess, I have. Rather then think about time gone by I focus on the exciting new things that lie ahead...his excitement for kindergarten, moving up onto a bigger pony, casting his own fishing pole, swimming in deep water and a little more free time for Mom:)

We celebrated with a cake baked my me and decorated my Dawson, Pulaski ice cream delivered by Pop....a birthday wouldn't be the same without that!

Holy Smoly

Smoly...i'm pretty sure that's not a real word but you grasp my thought. The last 7 days have flown by at lightening speed. My sister's family was visiting from OR and I do believe we tried to cram a years worth of activities into one week. We had a "whole" family BBQ, a little bit of fun on the farm, boating at the lake with a stay at the Honeycreek Resort, time at the city pool, a trip to Adventureland Park (with rides that make me sick anymore-i hate that) and tears when the week was over.

The picture is like "Where's Waldo"....can you find all 7 kids? Hint: the little guy s standing in front of Baylee.

Terds!

The scene was the supper table when I explained to the boys that tomorrow night Mom would be gone, along with the night after that, to enjoy a weekend of cycling with girlfriends. They were kindof aware as I've been scurrying around the house, like Mothers do, to prepare for my departure. You know, pack for yourself AND prepare the family to survive without you: clean clothes, food, allergy meds, sitters.
Wellllll, their response was NOT quite what I expected! From the big and little guys came "party all night, party all night as they pushed their arms out and around doing a jig!" I DID join in their laughter and I AM glad I don't have to walk out the door as tears roll down their faces BUT WhAt TeRdS!
That's life amongst the herd....

BACK:)

Needless to say I've been on a blogging vacation....I'm BACK:) Yesterday evening the boys did their boy thing with the wet and soggy ground. I may need grass seed to patch their boys at work zone but the good times they shared are worth it! A little football fumble turned into a mud slide......

I apologize for the blurring photo. Technical difficulties with my *#&$ camera, always:(
